Movie review : Waiting

                                                                       Waiting 

"A waiting that had no solution except keeping on Waiting."

I feel the effect of existential crisis or meaningless of human existence in the irrational and indifference in both -Movie 'Waiting 2016' and in the play -'Waiting for Godot'.

Existentialists deals with such subjects like...Death, the meaning of the human existence, the
place of God in human existence , the meaning of value , interpersonal relationship, the place of self -reflective conscious knowledge of one's self in existing. What makes difference in between movie and play "Nothing" and Nothing becomes the part of it.

'Waiting' written and directed by Anu Menon.Produced by Priti Gupta and Manish Mundra. The movie has the core of 'Ceaseless Waiting' as Samuel Backett depicted in the play "Waiting for Godot". Two main characters are important from both the movie and play .From the movie  Tara - independent joyful girl whose happiness turn into grief after getting the news of her husband's accident. and shiv whose wife has been in comma since 8 months. Estragone and Vladimire from the play "Waiting for Godot".

 The movie can be considred about the love, loss and generation gap. Tara says she has 1500 friends on Facebook & 5000 followers on Twitter yet she is alone right now when she indeed needs somebody's help in her own suffrring and crucial time. This also shows the unlikely friendship becuse as both have no choice at all and select to go together to kill their time. As Estragone and Vladimire don't like each other's company and still spending time together on the road.

With the repetition of daily routine life style of both shiv and Tara , meaninglessness is reflected. Repetition of daily life style suggests that ....."Nothing to be done" Shiv's wife has been in comma since 8 months but his hope never going to die.

Live, Love, and Laugh. Though these three are the most essential things of life to live. But is it really can be done ?What else we can do ? People have no courage to committe suicide that's why they have to live. Laugh - How far one can cry ? Or how far one has to tolerate ? There is no option at all and has to laugh and because now all are tried to cry and that's why they go on. Then whatever condition it is one has to laugh..

 As in second act , tree has four and five leaves on tree, ' Hope' remains with tomorrow. The same way , 'Hope of Tomorrow' remains for the both lives as shiv has read many madical journals about such cases.Wisdom is there. Time must be changed. It constanlty changed gloomy to happiness and again twisted.

Hope is endless. Hope is only the thing through which human begin is alive. S/he may survive on Hope throughout the life. As we find in both play and movie, hope supports to avoid the meaninglessness of life.

Tara and Shiv both are waiting for the cure of their spouses as Estragone and Vladimire are waiting for Godot. They don't have answers of many questions like...."who is Godot ?, where does he have to come ? When does he come ? Why does he have to come ? " Similarly, Tara and Shiv have no idea that  untill when they have to wait ?

Actually , it seems that all are waiting for the final truth of the life . Yes, obviously the Death only but it is not easy to accept because having  habit of living life.

 Estragone &Valdimire can't Committe suicide though they are talking about it. The same way, Tara and shiv want to keep alive their spouses and also want to live because .....

"Our instinct of living life is more powerful than the reason of death."

Vladimire : Shall we go ?
                     Let's go.
               but they don't go.

But question also remains ' Where to go ? ' Similarly, Where Tara and Shiv can go except 'Waiting Room' ???
