ભારતીય સાહિત્ય અને સમાજમાં નારીજીવન : વાસ્તવ અને નિરૂપણ




Today I have attended the seminar on  "ભારતીય સાહિત્ય અને સમાજમાં નારીજીવન :  વાસ્તવ અને નિરૂપણ" under the banner of Sahitya-Akademi and Gramlok at B.K.Patel Arts & L.M. Patel Commerce College, Savli.


Programme is started at 10: 20 in Shivranjani Kalabhavan Anchor of the programme was respected Nikhil Sir and then after the programme is handover to respected Himanshi Shelat.


 Scholars are

1) Sonal Bhatt - Socail Worker


2) Ashish Kakkad - the film actor


 3) Chaitanya Bhatt -  Social worker


4) Uday Gaur - English Professor and short story writer


 5) Himanshi Shelat -  the chair person of the programme is the well known writer of Gujarati language who won the Sahitya-Akademi Award in 1996 for her short stories collection 'Andhari Galima Safed Tapaka' (1992). She is inspired from Jane Austen and George Eliot.


Sitanshu Yashaachandra the great Gujatati poet and critic who won the Sahitya Akademi in 1987, Ranjitram Suvarna Chandrak in 1987 and Padma Shri Award in 2006.

The whole Seminar is divided into five sessions of each scholar.


Sitanshu Yashaachandra gave opening speech realting to life and literature. What is the relationship between  Human being and literature. He also talked about the language that 'language is itself corrupt.' Man uses language to hide something not to express something. He also used the very famous lines from Sanskrit यत्र नार्यस्तु पूज्यन्ते तत्र रम्यन्ते देवताः। and also explained how dangerous it is in practical life. Literature is not rituals of culture and tradition but it has new intimacy of language.


Sonal Bhatt talked about આજના ગામડા અને નાના ગામમાં નારીનું વાસ્તવિક નિરૂપણ. She shared her experienced and two real life story of 14th years old girl and second one was the story of  the widow.  She put some of points infront of audience like #education #moral values # superstitious # violence # struggle. She also emphasised the quality of feminine. How women of rural area live life ? How old tradition or practices and old rituals are still existed in small villages ?


Ashish Kakkad is a popular gujarati movie actor. Ashish Kakkad has been part of popular movies like Mission Mummy, Better Half 2010. Ashish Kakkad - the film actor who talked about the movie screening and How he got new insight to represent it in his films like....Better Half 2010.

Quite interesting session it was. He told story how he got the theme of the film - Betterhalf. How he learned and started to look things from the different perspective. He said that Male never realised or don't want to realised how woman is far much better in work culture and maintaining home - both together. He gave to concept like #bread winner and #breadmaker how it is different from each other. He also gave some examples of feminist perspective. He didn't use the terminology of gender descrimination but he defined it very well giving some of the example from the society. I would like to use Female rather woman because woman has to have love, compassion, generosity, Scrifice, tolerance. At the last he told that both are inter dependent can't be separated.


Chaitanya Bhatt started his speech remembering the great Gujarati Poet - Zaverchand Meghani for his "સૌરાષ્ટ્રની રસધાર". He talked about the turmoil of women with the reference of the short  story - 'Virata' from "સૌરાષ્ટ્રની રસધાર". He also shared one of the experienced of meeting the women who is now sized because of murder of her husband. Where  will she go after releasing from the jail because her family members even her children don't want to meet. Realtions should be maintained from the side of women. How from only one side realtions can be maintained? If Is it only responsibility of women ? What about other members who don't accept her ?Where she belongs ?

He himself said that if anybody has feminist perception, surely s/he would raise questions because one should sacrifice in realtions and most of time sacrifice reamins on the side of women. Family binds with love, compassion and moral valves. He said otherwise......'સમાજ ખોખલો બનશે. સાહિત્ય, લોકજીવન એ ખોજનો વિષય છે.'Though i am not feminist, I have different opinion from him  because we need to think about inequality which is existed and we can't ignore it. Why only women needs to find her identity ? why only women has responsibility to maintain family. Why women always give sacrifice ? Why we don't cahnge the mindset ? Why such cultural manifestation always imposed to her? સ્ત્રી એ મા છે, બેન છે, પત્ની છે, દીકરી છે એ એની ઓળખ છે પણ એની સામન્ય ઓળખ - એક 'સ્ત્રી' તરીકેની ભુલાય ગઈ છે.


Uday Gaur talked about ગ્રામનારીનું નિરૂપણ અને નારી ચેતના with the the story - Khemi written by Gujarati writer દ્વિરેફ. This is the story of backward people. He talked about Khemi who has power to keep control over others yet there are very few charcters in literature who is completely free or seems free becuase women must be subjugated in dominant culture. He also gives the example of the character Rosalind from Shakespeare's As You Like It  but what abou the Ophelia from Hamlet by same writer ?



Himanshi Shelat much interesting session of the programme. She raised many questions to ask self becauae whole world is suffering from burning issues. If anybody told that everything is fine and going good where exctly things are quite well ?  He talked about current issues of Hariyana. એક વિસંવાદિતાનું યુદ્ધ આખા વિશ્વમાં છેડાયેલું છે. સઁધર્ષ, હિંસા વિનાની વાતોમાં હવે ખપ કેટલો છે ? ભૃણહત્યા, બળાત્કાર, ખુન, જેવી કેટલીય બાબતો પ્રસ્તુત થી અપ્રસ્તુત તરફ જતી જાય છે. How anybody considers only six years old girl child as provocative ? Women must be aware and raise questions and protect  thier own existence. Becuase here , Mindset , thoughts are much problematic. અસ્તિત્વ લોપાય રહ્યું છે કારણ સ્ત્રીઓએ સ્વીકારી લીધું છે. તેઓએ તેઓના અસ્તિત્વનું મૂલ્ય સમજવું પડશે. જગત પ્રક્રિયામાં જગત ઉપચારની જરૂર છે. સ્ત્રીઓ મુક્ત થઇ ગઈ છે  એ illusion છે. If it is not illusion then define when and how ?  પડછાયાની દોટ મૂકીને સતની શોધ શરૂ કરવી પડશે. વસ્તુનો અસ્વીકાર શીખવો પડશે, પડકાર આપવો પડશે. શ્રમના કલાકો  નકામા ન જવા જોઈએ. જીવન અકારણ ન જવું જોઈએ. જમીન થી લઈને દરેક સ્ત્રી તત્વ પર પુરુષનું આધિપત્ય રહ્યું છે ને હજુ રહેવાનું જ છે. Just like Man is mind and Women is considred as Container. Suffering remains almost same world wide because of Socail acceptance.

હજુ સુધી સમજાયું નથી કે આટ-આટલુ  વીત્યા છતાં આ ધરતી આટલી  બધી સહનશીલ કેમ છે ? પૃથ્વી  રસાતળ કેમ  નથી થઇ જતી ? કે પછી પૃથ્વી રસાતળ જ થઇ ગઈ છે ??? વિસમ પરિસ્થિતિઓ માંથી બહાર આવવા માટે જાગવું પડશે લડવું પડશે..ક્યાં સુધી ? કોને ખબર ....!

Much interesting discussion on questions realted to subjects. Certainty, it will be very useful in dissertation.

અખેપાતર

અનુભવોનું અકળ પાત્ર - અખેપાતર Bindu Bhatt is well known Gujarati writer. 'Akhepatar' (1999) have awarded the 'Sahitya Akademi Award' for the 2003. Novel has the  female  protagonist Kanchanba.  આમ તો આખીયે વાત કાંચનબા ના જીવન ની જ છે ને તેમ છતાંય એમાં ઘણું છે જે એક સ્ત્રી ને જ નહીં આખાય માનવજગત ને લાગું પડે છે.  Chandrakant Topiwala said that...... "સામાજીક ચેતનાની આધારભુત ભારત ના ભગલાંના વિષયની છે ને તેમછતા ભારતના વિભાજન કરતા એ વિભાજન ને કારણે પાત્રોની બદલાતી આવતી નિયતિ નિરૂપનનો વિષય છે."  કંચનબા ની પીડા,દુઃખો ને વેદના ને   ભુતકાળ માંથી એ વર્તમાન ને  નવો અર્થ આપે છે. This is story of journey not only from Outside but the most necessary from the 'inside' also. નવલકથા માં કંચન થી લઇને કાંચનબા સુધી ની સફર છે.                                               મરણટીપ                                                           - માય ડીયર જયુ            My Dear Jayu is well known writer of Gujarati literature. One has to read his works to understand the meaning of pain and suffering.  "Marantip" is small  Navlika. While reading and  after  reading, one can't get much pleasure or aesthetic delight but some how it reflects the reality of life and human beings. One must be thought about it after reading.                 It starts with smoothly conversation  between husband and wife. then it moves with flashback technique. What is the meaning of life ? we have to find out. but Luckily  people have their own and different answers. Life is meant to be journey only. I found the anxiety  of Existentialism in story.  Sometimes, Characters are not able to understand their own voices which come from within as sometimes we also fail to understand. મરણટીપમાં .........
