Cast: Sridevi, Nawazudin Siddiqui, Akshaye Khanna, Sajal Ali
Director : Ravi Udyaawar
Devki (Sridevi) is biological teacher. Though she has great name among the students, Arya - step daughter maintains the distance to her. She addresses her step mother as 'Mam' rather than Mother. Movie has the story of hurrsment. The central part of the movie revolves around daughter & her step mother.
Arya is invited to Valentine's party.
Arya is kindnaped because Mohit is rejected and gets anger to her. He, himself and his friends - Charles, watchman Babu and Jagan attack to Arya. They brutally seduced her and throw her into gutter to die. How cruel it is!
IANS of The Economic Times said,
" the scenes are cut in way that they heighten the drama without resorting to hysteria."
After various surgeries, Arya is out of danger but she is broken from inside. Arya's statement is not valid in court as she was drunk on that day. Her memory is unreliable but her suffering can't. Court releases all criminals as they don't have any evidence against them and 'Victim becomes guilty'. Until when victim suffers ?
Devki and Anand don't get the justice from system so now Devki decides to fight her own way. It seems very hard to Arya to go back to normal life. Life is getting ruin from Inside. How can she live happily with such suffering and trauma ?
As we always consider Mother as 'Durga Maa', Sridevi decides to take revenge becoming one of the form of 'Shakti' svrupa as Mother. DK ( (Nawazuddin Siddiqui) plays very vital supporting role and helps her to find information as he is detective.
Here, we need to raise the question about our judicial system. Saibal Chatterjee of NDTV India said that 'It doesn't strickly belong to "Conventional rape and revenge - drama" category as it does not have "clearly defined moral and emotional context."
Devki feels that she lost her step-daughter forever. She has real concern to her and decide to take revenge for such brutal act which was happened to her daughter. Arya gets surprised with the news of each attackers. Jagan and his friends are unaware who are doing such things with them.Jagan knows when he meets his friends in hospital. He indicates some of words like...'Maa'. Jagan got it and repeat the sentence after remembered that night "बुला तेरी मा को "
Arya is greatful to her father but it is her step -mother who is doing for her. First, inspector Matthew suspects to father and after the mother as he finds glasses in Mohit's home. Inspector Maththew has no evidence so he starts to follow her and warns that the last one - Jagan is the most dangerous among them.
Jagan must be killed because if he is alive he can do anything to Ary. Matthew - Police inspector hands his own the gun to Devki and allow her to kill Jagan at the end. The action - handover the gun to Devki shows the failure of our judicial system.
Here, Devki (Sridevi) gets the justice her own way but it is not possible for every mother to fight against such terror. Until when we have to wait for justice ? How our system works?
Why we are fail to create the example against such crime? Here, Arya gets the justice becuase of her mother. It seems like everyday story of justice.
What about other girls? How many girls gets justice ? Some questions remain unanswered...
